Market Review for the week ended October 24th, 2025
The Nigerian Exchange (NGX) All-Share Index (ASI) advanced by 4.48% week-on-week, closing at 155,645.05 points, compared to 148,977.64 points in the previous week. Consequently, the year-to-date (YtD) return rose to 51.22%. In tandem, the market capitalization expanded by 4.48%, reaching ₦98.79 trillion, up from ₦94.56 trillion recorded in the preceding week.
A total turnover of 3.70 billion shares, valued at ₦129.89 billion, was traded in 148,077 deals on the NGX during the week. This reflects a 52.89% increase in volume, a 69.52% rise in value, and a 16.97% uptick in the number of deals, compared to 2.42 billion shares worth ₦76.62 billion exchanged across 126,591 deals in the previous week. Sectoral performance was mixed across tracked indices. The NGX Banking Index and the NGX Insurance Index closed in negative territory, posting respective declines of 1.35% and 1.10% week-on-week. Conversely, the NGX Consumer Goods Index rose by 3.94%, the NGX Oil & Gas Index gained 9.13%, while the NGX Industrial Goods Index advanced by 10.61%.
FIDELITYBK maintained its dominance on the trading chart, leading both by volume and value, despite recording a modest 0.75% week-on-week (WoW) decline. The market’s bullish momentum was further reinforced by notable performances across select equities, with ASOSAVINGS (+32.00%), ARADEL (+25.20%), EUNISELL (+19.73%), PZ (+14.19%), and NASCON (+12.77%) emerging as the top gainers. In contrast, LIVINGTRUST ranked as the week’s worst-performing stock, shedding 10.89% WoW.
