Market Review for the week ended October 10th, 2025
The Nigerian Exchange (NGX) All-Share Index (ASI) advanced by 2.37% week-on-week, closing at 146,988.04 points, compared to 143,584.04 points in the previous week. Consequently, the year-to-date (YtD) return improved to 42.81%. In the same vein, market capitalization also rose by 2.37%, settling at ₦93.30 trillion, up from ₦91.14 trillion recorded in the prior week.
A total turnover of 2.29 billion shares valued at ₦90.28 billion was traded in 138,177 deals on the NGX during the week. This represents a 72.79% week-on-week decline in volume and a 21.84% drop in value, but a 19.32% increase in the number of deals, compared to the 8.40 billion shares worth ₦115.50 billion exchanged across 115,801 deals in the previous week. Sectoral performance across the tracked indices was broadly positive, except for the NGX Banking Index, which dipped by 0.41%. The NGX Consumer Goods Index gained 0.83%, the NGX Oil & Gas Index rose 2.90%, the NGX Industrial Goods Index advanced 4.23%, and the NGX Insurance Index appreciated by 3.69%.
ELLAHLAKES led the trading chart by volume, while ARADEL dominated by value, posting a 7.20% week-on-week (WoW) gain and a 3.40% WoW decline, respectively. The market’s positive momentum was further buoyed by notable performances across select equities, with SOVRENINS (+16.73%), OMATEK (+12.30%), MANSARD (+11.81%), CHAMS (+11.69%), and EUNISELL (+11.39%) topping the gainers’ list. Conversely, LIVINGTRUST emerged as the week’s worst performer, shedding 14.61% WoW.
