Market Review for the week ended 14th October, 2025

The Nigerian Exchange (NGX) All-Share Index (ASI) extended its bearish trend for the third consecutive week, declining by 1.68% week-on-week to close at 147,013.59 points, compared to 149,524.81 points the previous week. Consequently, the year-to-date (YtD) return moderated to 42.83%. Similarly, market capitalization fell by 1.58% to ₦93.501 trillion, down from ₦94.998 trillion recorded in the preceding week.

A total turnover of 7.325 billion shares valued at ₦156.425 billion was traded in 134,383 deals on the NGX during the week. This reflects a 104.61% surge in volume and a 46.18% increase in value, despite an 8.23% decline in the number of deals, compared to the 3.58 billion shares worth ₦107.01 billion exchanged across 146,429 deals in the previous week. Sectoral performance was mixed across the tracked indices. The NGX Banking Index, NGX Insurance Index, and NGX Consumer Goods Index advanced by 1.26%, 2.42%, and 0.46%, respectively, while the NGX Oil & Gas Index and the NGX Industrial Goods Index declined by 0.85% and 6.97%, respectively.

Although the market closed the week on a bearish note, there were notable performances across select equities. NCR (+32.30%), ASOSAVINGS (+14.44%), CHAMPION (+11.54%), INTENEGINS (+11.48%), and NSLTECH (+10.67%) emerged as the top gainers. In contrast, UNIONDICON ranked as the week’s worst-performing stock, declining by 18.71% week-on-week.
