Market Review for the week ended 19th November, 2025
The Nigerian Exchange (NGX) All-Share Index (ASI) sustained its bullish momentum from the previous week, advancing by 1.76% week-on-week to close at 152,057.38 points, up from 149,433.26 points. As a result, the year-to-date (YtD) return strengthened to 47.73%. Similarly, market capitalization closed on a positive note, rising by 1.76% to ₦96.937 trillion, compared with ₦95.264 trillion recorded in the prior week.
A total turnover of 9.849 billion shares, valued at ₦305.848 billion, was traded in 126,584 deals on the NGX during the week. This reflects a 125.22% surge in trading volume, a 212.78% increase in value, and a 14.31% rise in the number of deals, compared to the 4.373 billion shares worth ₦97.783 billion exchanged across 110,736 deals in the previous week. Sectoral performance was broadly positive, with the exception of the NGX Oil & Gas Index, which declined by 0.17%. Meanwhile, the NGX Banking Index, NGX Insurance Index, NGX Consumer Goods Index, and NGX Industrial Goods Index recorded gains of 2.75%, 3.07%, 4.51%, and 0.72%, respectively.
Fifty-five (55) equities appreciated in price during the week, compared to forty-nine (49) gainers recorded in the previous week. ALEX (+59.35%), MECURE (+44.93%), FIRSTHOLDCO (+42.93%), GUINNESS (+33.01%), and NPFMCRFBK (+20.65%) led the gainers’ chart. Conversely, thirty-six (36) equities depreciated in price, higher than forty-one (41) decliners posted in the prior week. LIVINGTRUST emerged as the worst-performing stock, shedding 11.38% week-on-week (WoW).
