Market Review for the week ended 31st October, 2025

The Nigerian Exchange (NGX) All-Share Index (ASI) declined by 0.98% week-on-week, closing at 154,126.46 points compared to 155,645.05 points in the previous week. Consequently, the year-to-date (YtD) return stood at 49.74%. Similarly, market capitalization decreased by 0.98%, settling at ₦97.83 trillion, down from ₦98.79 trillion recorded in the preceding week.

A total turnover of 7.48 billion shares, valued at ₦145.43 billion, was traded in 159,487 deals on the NGX during the week. This represents a 102.14% increase in volume, an 11.96% rise in value, and a 7.71% uptick in the number of deals compared to 3.70 billion shares worth ₦129.89 billion exchanged across 148,077 deals in the previous week. Sectoral performance was broadly negative across the tracked indices, except for the NGX Oil & Gas Index, which appreciated by 0.30%. The NGX Banking Index declined by 2.11%, the NGX Insurance Index fell by 3.47%, the NGX Consumer Goods Index dipped by 2.73%, while the NGX Industrial Goods Index depreciated by 1.02%.

Although the market closed the week on a bearish note, there were notable performances across select equities. ASOSAVINGS (+56.06%), Julius Berger Nigeria Plc (+13.28%), Oando Plc (+11.87%), Berger Paints (+9.25%), and Ecobank Transnational Incorporated (ETI) (+8.19%) emerged as the top gainers. In contrast, Omatek Ventures Plc ranked as the week’s worst-performing stock, declining by 21.94% week-on-week.
