Market Review for the week ended 5th November, 2025
The Nigerian Exchange (NGX) All-Share Index (ASI) reversed its four-week bearish trend, appreciating by 2.45% week-on-week to close at 147,040.08 points, up from 143,520.53 points in the previous week. As a result, the year-to-date (YtD) return improved to 42.86%. Similarly, market capitalization closed bullish, rising by 2.67% to ₦93.722 trillion, compared to ₦91.286 trillion in the preceding week.
A total turnover of 6.617 billion shares, valued at ₦113.224 billion, was traded in 109,590 deals on the NGX during the week. This reflects a 59.83% increase in volume, a 7.07% rise in the number of deals, and a 2.30% decline in value, compared to 4.140 billion shares worth ₦115.889 billion exchanged across 102,351 deals in the previous week. Sectoral performance was broadly positive across the tracked indices, except for the NGX Oil and Gas Index, which depreciated by 0.57% week-on-week. The NGX Banking Index, NGX Insurance Index, NGX Consumer Goods Index, and the NGX Industrial Goods Index appreciated by 3.20%, 1.48%, 1.56%, and 7.38%, respectively.
With the bulls back in the market, 55 equities appreciated in price during the week, higher than 38 equities recorded in the previous week. NCR (+33.03%), UACN (+22.69%), GUINNESS (+18.56%), DANGCEM (+15.02%), and NB (+12.36%) emerged as the top gainers. Conversely, 29 equities depreciated in price, lower than 36 equities recorded in the previous week. RTBRISCOE ranked as the worst-performing stock, declining by 12.79% week-on-week (WoW).
