Market Ends Week Bearish, ₦313bn Lost In Capitalization.

Trading activities in the Nigerian Equities market closed negative at the end of today, Friday (9/05/2025), as the NGX-ASI decreased to 108,733.40 from 109,231.96 recorded at the close of the previous trading day, indicating a YTD return of +5.64%.

However, the market performance for the week increased by 2.54%, with the NGX All-Share Index (ASI) increasing to 108,733.40 from 106,042.57 recorded at the start of the trading week.

The market capitalization decreased by ₦313 trillion to ₦68.339 trillion from ₦68.652 trillion recorded at the previous trading day’s close. Also, the market turnover decreased to ₦11.165 billion from ₦14.347 billion.

The market breadth was positive at 1.03X, as 32 stocks advanced, 31 stocks declined, and 58 stocks remained unchanged. STERLINGNG topped the gainers’ list with 10.00%, while TRANSPOWER declined by 10.00% to lead the losers’ chart.

TANTALIZER recorded the highest volume, while GTCO rerecorded the highest value for the day.
