Vice President Yemi Osinbajo will declare the 21st National Sports Festival open at the Stephen Keshi Stadium in Asaba, the Delta State capital on Wednesday.

Before the opening ceremony, the Games, tagged Delta 2022, will produce its first medal in the cycling event, while other events begin on Thursday, according to the programme of the Local Organising Committee.

The LOC stated that the opening ceremony at the Stephen Keshi Stadium will witness a mixture of entertainment and cultural display, with Harry Song one of the top musicians scheduled to thrill fans from across the country.

Athletes and officials from all the states, including the FCT, had arrived in Asaba as of Tuesday.

At the flag hoisting ceremony at the Stephen Keshi Stadium on Tuesday, the Chairman of the LOC, Patrick Ukah, tasked the athletes to avoid the use of drugs during the Games.

The festival, which ends December 10, has a total of 11,000 athletes in attendance.
