The NGX- ASI decreased to 45,928.27 from 45,957.35, while the YTD return of the index further dipped to +7.52% from +7.59%. The total market capitalization decreased to N24.75 trn from N24.76 trn as investors lost N11.88bn. However, there was a disparity between the NGX-ASI (declined by 0.06%) and the Market Capitalization (declined by 0.05%) value, due to the additional listing of 78,929,849 ordinary shares of 50 kobo each of Nigerian Breweries plc.
The market turnover increased to N2.89bn from N2.41bn, while market breadth was negative at 0.53x as 14 stocks advanced against 26 stocks that declined, 64 stocks remained unchanged. The share price of NNFM increased by 9.49% to top the gainer’s chart, while REGALINS declined by -9.52% to lead the losers’ chart.

OUTLOOK
Market performance today was mainly due to capital outflow as a result of FED tightening of rate. The bearish performance of the equity also caused sell-offs in all the sectors except the oil and gas sector, to halt the fourth consecutive bullish trend. We expect bullish sentiments to return as investors look forward to corporate results for 2021.
