Market Review for the week ended September 12th, 2025

The market reversed its four-week bearish run, stretching from August, to close positive in the second week of September. The NGX All-Share Index (NGX-ASI) gained 1.13% week-on-week, closing at 140,545.69 points compared to 138,980.01 points in the previous week, as investors took positions
in anticipation of attractive interim dividends from listed companies. Consequently, the year-to-date (YtD) return stood at 36.55%. In the same vein, market capitalization advanced by 1.13%, settling at ₦88.92 trillion, up from ₦87.94 trillion recorded in the prior week.

A total turnover of 3.19 billion shares, valued at ₦99.69 billion in 132,711 deals, was recorded on the NGX during the week. This represented increases of 2.18% in volume, 12.45% in deals, and 10.39% in value compared to the previous week’s 3.12 billion shares, valued at ₦90.30 billion in 118,018
deals. Sectoral performance was broadly positive across the tracked indices: the NGX Banking Index gained 1.68%, the NGX Industrial Goods Index advanced 1.13%, the NGX Oil & Gas Index rose 2.38%, the NGX Insurance Index appreciated 2.45%, and the NGX Consumer Goods Index increased 0.98%.

FCMB dominated the trading chart by volume, while ARADEL led by value, recording week-on-week (WoW) gains of 2.86% and 6.61%, respectively. The market’s bullish return was supported by notable performances across several equities, with ETRANZACT (+45.15%), REGALINS (+27.69%), CHELLARAM (+26.67%), DAARCOMM (+23.26%), and ROYALEX (+22.34%) topping the gainers’ list. Conversely, UNIONDICON emerged as the week’s worst performer, shedding 18.33% WoW.
