Market Review for the week ended 24th November, 2025
Despite the reduced number of trading days during the week, following the Federal Government’s declaration of Thursday, December 25, and Friday, December 26, 2025, as public holidays for the Christmas celebration, the Nigerian Exchange (NGX) All-Share Index (ASI) sustained its bullish momentum from the previous week. The index advanced by 0.97% week-on-week to close at 153,539.83 points, up from 152,057.38 points, thereby strengthening the year-to-date (YtD) return to 49.17%. Similarly, market capitalisation closed on a positive note, rising by 0.98% to ₦97.890 trillion, compared with ₦96.937 trillion recorded in the prior week.
A total turnover of 2.876 billion shares, valued at ₦63.832 billion, was traded in 80,229 deals on the NGX during the week. This represents a 70.80% decline in trading volume, a 79.13% decrease in value, and a 36.62% reduction in the number of deals, compared to 9.849 billion shares valued at ₦305.848 billion traded across 126,584 deals in the previous week. Sectoral performance was broadly positive, except for the NGX Insurance Index, which declined by 2.13%, while the NGX Oil and Gas Index closed flat at 0.00%. Meanwhile, the NGX Banking, Consumer Goods, and Industrial Goods indices recorded gains of 2.93%, 3.34%, and 1.17%, respectively.
Forty-four (44) equities appreciated during the week, compared with fifty-five (55) gainers recorded in the previous week. ALEX (+32.39%), AUSTINLAZ (+32.23%), INTBREW (+20.83%), MECURE (+18.55%), and FIRSTHOLDCO (+17.91%) topped the gainers’ chart. Conversely, thirty (30) equities depreciated, lower than the thirty-six (36) decliners recorded in the prior week. LEGENDINT emerged as the worst-performing stock, shedding 11.71% week-on-week (WoW).
