MPC Retains MPR at 27.5% Amid CPI Rebasing

The Monetary Policy Committee of the Central Bank of Nigeria, during its 299th meeting and the first of the year, unanimously decided to retain the Monetary Policy Rate (MPR) at 27.5%. This pause comes after six consecutive hikes in 2024. The Committee also agreed to maintain all other parameters, resulting in the following resolutions:

  • Retain the asymmetric corridor around the MPR at +500/-100 basis points.
  • Retain cash reserved ratio (CRR) for deposit money banks (DBMs) at 50%
  • Retain cash reserved ratio (CRR) for merchant banks at 16%.
  • Maintain the Liquidity Ratio at 30 per cent.”
